Capitães da Areia
This fictional project consists in the cover design of the famous book Capitães da Areia by Jorge Amado, first published in 1936.
The illustration is an immersive black and white artwork meant to give the sensation of disorder of the urban environment of a favela, and the sensation of smallness of a huge evil town that doesn't care about its inhabitants.
The layout was designed in a very simple way in order to obtain a strong visual contrast with the artwork, but at the same time it creates a flow that follows the central perspective used, enhancing the perception of deepness.
